What's Next for Malaprop's
Thank you so much for being part of the Malaprop's community! We hope you are staying safe and well.
We just want to provide an update to those of you who might not have seen our monthly newsletter for May.
As you may know, North Carolina has officially entered Phase 1 of a reopening plan. In short, we're under a modified stay-at-home order. More businesses are now categorized as "essential" and can reopen while adhering to social distancing, sanitation, and maximum occupancy guidelines.
Bookstores are on the expanded "essential businesses" list, but Malaprop's will be taking things slowly. The health of our staff, customers, and community is paramount. Therefore, our tentative plan is for a soft reopening on May 19 that allows a small number of customers into the store by appointment only. Our goal is to move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for everyone. For additional information, please click here to read more in our May newsletter and please stay tuned for more information as we approach May 19th.
Meanwhile, we are still here with a small, dedicated staff, staying six feet apart and working to get books to you. We have booksellers in the store between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and you can order online anytime. You can also opt for audiobooks from Libro.fm for instant book gratification while supporting Malaprop's.
In-person events remain suspended but we're continuing to add virtual events to our calendar. We hope you'll join us for author readings and conversations from the comfort of your home. Upcoming events include Choose Your Adventure writer Katherine Factor, bestselling authors Mary Kay Andrews and Mary Alice Monroe, and Chefs Melissa Martin and Katie Button. We look forward to seeing you online soon and to seeing you back in the store in the future!
